Forno Rosso Pizzeria Napoletana stands as a vibrant gem in Chicago’s bustling West Randolph Street dining scene, masterfully representing authentic Italian flavors through its exceptional Neapolitan pizza and an array of classic Italian dishes. This warm and inviting eatery seamlessly blends tradition with modernity, crafting dishes that not only please the palate but also evoke the heart and soul of Italy.
The culinary offerings here are a testament to quality and craftsmanship. The Bufalina Pizza, crowned with fresh buffalo mozzarella, offers a luscious, creamy richness that melts beautifully into the tangy tomato base, all resting on an airy yet perfectly chewy crust baked in a traditional wood-fired oven. For those seeking something adventurous, the Tre Carne pizza layers savory meats that create a robust, hearty flavor profile, while the Pistacchio Pizza intriguingly marries nutty richness with subtle cheese, a delightful twist that surprises and delights in equal measure.
For guests with dietary considerations, Forno Rosso impresses with its thoughtfully handcrafted gluten-free pizza dough, made in small, fresh batches daily. Customers like Annais Gomez rave about the crust’s perfect balance—light, tender, and void of the often dry or cardboard-like texture that plagues many gluten-free alternatives. The gluten-free pizzas here achieve the delicate balance of authenticity and inclusivity, making everyone feel welcome at the table.
Diners can complement their meal with a fresh Toscana Salad bursting with crisp greens and bright, flavorful ingredients, or indulge in appetizers like the Pomodoro Bruschetta and the rich, smoky Wood Roasted Olives. The menu’s versatility shines further with beloved Italian classics such as Gnocchi Sorrentina and satisfying sandwiches, broadening the experience beyond pizza alone.
No Italian meal here is complete without a sweet finish. The dessert selection is truly memorable—home-baked Cannoli with velvety ricotta filling, the decadently layered Tiramisu soaked lovingly in espresso, and the playful Pizza Con Nutella artfully adorned with bananas and powdered sugar combine to provide a charming conclusion to an already exceptional culinary journey.
To further elevate the dining experience, Forno Rosso offers a curated selection of Italian craft beers like Birra Baladin’s Isaac White Ale and the intriguingly spiced Birra Baladin Nora Specialty, which provide light, aromatic, and perfectly balanced refreshments that beautifully complement the richness of the food.
Beyond the stellar menu, what truly sets Forno Rosso apart is its dedicated, welcoming atmosphere. Guests consistently praise the friendly, attentive service—the kind that makes you feel like family. From owners who go above and beyond, reopening the kitchen late to delight eager young diners, to staff who share their passion for Italian cuisine, the warmth of hospitality shines through every interaction. Regulars like Leo Z and Iyung H have experienced firsthand how this genuine kindness turns a great meal into a cherished memory.
Whether you’re craving a perfectly blistered Margherita, a bold and spicy Stromboli featuring stracciatella and smoked bufala mozzarella finished with Mike’s Hot Honey, or a thoughtfully crafted gluten-free pie made with love, Forno Rosso Pizzeria Napoletana invites you to indulge in an authentic taste of Italy right in Chicago. It’s more than just a restaurant—it’s a heartfelt homage to Italian culinary art, where each bite is an invitation to savor tradition, passion, and the joy of sharing exceptional food with those you love.
Just drove up from Colorado and was on the hunt for a great spot with gluten-free pizza—and wow, did I hit the jackpot! This place makes their gluten-free dough by hand in small batches, so pro tip: get there a little earlier or try a weekday to snag one. The pizza? Absolutely delicious. The gluten-free crust tasted just like a regular one—none of that hard, cardboard vibe you sometimes get. Light, flavorful, from their brick oven (my favorite!). This spot is officially my new go-to. If you’re gluten-free or just love great pizza, I highly recommend checking it out!
I've eaten a lot of pizza in Chicago. And this place blew me away with how simple, but divine, the ingredients were. The pizza crust was cooked to perfection. And the service was incredible. Definitely coming back!
By far, the best gluten-free crust I’ve ever had and I have been too many places around the states, but not Italy yet. The second best I’ve had is in Miami in another restaurant that looks very similar. I was only in Chicago for a week for work but came here twice during my stay to try two different types of pizza. A meat and a pistachio pesto, as well as the appetizer with prosciutto and buffalo as well as salad. Everything was a 10/10. The service is great, the waiters and staff are very helpful and cute. Highly recommend to anyone gluten free as well as regular people. I’m sure that pizza is even better. Only feedback is that the spritzes were not that strong usually if I have two of those, I’m pretty buzzed but was totally sober unfortunately. If I return to Chicago, this is my first stop after my hotel.
Taste is super good. Friends and I got prosciutto, tre carne, and marg. Tre carne was super wet but apparently this is how Italian pizza is supposed to be (it did not take away from the flavor). The pizzas were large, friends had plenty of leftovers. Service was super nice. Not many tables though but wasnt an issue.
We came in just a minute after they have already closed the kitchen. Our little one was super disappointed as she have waited patiently for us to wrap up work in the evening. The owner kindly allowed us to seat and re-opened the kitchen and it truly made our day. The pizza was top notch as always, and the kindness just make this our favorite pizza place!
Great dough! Love their thin crust pizza! And their tomato sauce. Gnocci was very good! They also definitely know how to pick their wine! Their white wine were excellent
Only had 5hr layover in Chicago. Not a fan of the famous deep dish pies. More so a big fan of fire oven, classics, all fresh & natural ingredients. I chose the Ortolana, a Lemoncello Margarietta. Absolutely phenomenal! Wasn't disappointed and glad I spent my short time in Chicago enjoying ourside on thier deck, the food, my drinks and great service from my waiter. He is very attentive to all his customers. A great evening all to myself! I highly recommend and can also say, that pizza IS the best! Texture, color in the undercarriage. The cheese maintains that ooze as it cools & it's flavor. The flavors of the herbs & veggies popped and I forgot I didn't ask for Pepperoni. That was on me. However, I didn't notice or care. I loved it just as it was! A lovely atmosphere. Something I would return to if given the opportunity.
Wow - some of the best Neapolitan-style pizza I’ve had! The white sauce pizzas here really let the flavors shine. The Pistachio is uniquely rich, and the Primavera is another standout, topped with spicy peppers that add a satisfying kick. Don’t miss the spicy olive oil, which adds an extra layer of heat to your pizza. Service could be a bit more attentive, but it wasn’t a dealbreaker. The space is modern and lively, though it can get a bit loud. Overall, still an enjoyable dinner with very solid pizza!
